Update: Where the heck have I been?

To answer the question.....
I've been buried somewhere in the middle of no where.

Kidding, I was in the middle of "trying" to enjoy my last few months of being a senior in high school. Then I had some personal battles to deal with which involved my family and I to move. I got a scar on my right thumb from roughly opening a paint can. I chopped off a good chunk of my hair. I finally have a car and a license to get myself to places. But let's be real here. I'm an introvert (well, more of an ambivert) and just cheap. I don't like going outside in the burning sun and wasting gas. THEN I started college and that leads us to now.

Honestly, I have no excuses. I've just been so caught up with the fact that I'm living a new life, in a new place far from where I grew up. I was focusing on myself for a bit and still being able to manage Fangirl Friday and some blog tours over on Bookwyrming Thoughts.

Along the way, I lost my sense of self but also learned so much about myself. If that makes ANY sense. I learned to slow down and enjoy the little things in life. That things happen for a reason. It's OK if you don't know why right away. You will find out sooner or later. I learned to take risks no matter how enormous or tiny the situation is.

Of course, I'm not perfect. No one is. And that's OK. I will keep reading and posting as I get the hang of this new college life of mine.

I haven't posted since March 23, 2016. That's ALMOST 6 months ago! It's INSANE! I know that. I was going to write a review for Captain America: Civil War but something bad happened later that premiere night that altered my perspective on life in general and where I lived. After coming home from the movies, someone shot our car's windshield with a BB Gun and we still haven't replaced it since. The car broke down and we've been busy looking for a new home. So it's been sitting out in the garage in our new home. Don't worry we'll fix it sooner than you think

Until this day, we STILL don't know who did it. This really pushed us to look for a new home. There are other reasons why we moved but this is the main reason.

A week later after the windshield disaster, someone shot our other car's rear-view mirror. So yes, whoever it was destroyed 2 of our cars. No, we aren't the kind of people who hold parties everyday at our old house annoying our neighbors. We were pretty chill and calm. We still are. I have no idea what their problem was. So we kissed that place goodbye and now I'm living in a much better place at the moment.

That was just a portion of the disaster that happened these past few months but I don't want to bore you to death.

I hope this explains my hiatus on this blog and hope you guys stick around. I will be posting at least once a week about something book/movie related, and if not then expect a random life update of some sort from me.

Thanks for checking my blog out again! I truly appreciate it!
Until next time!

Allegiant 'Movie' Review *Spoiler Free*

Allegiant
Released on: March 18, 2016

Length: 120 Min.
Rated: PG-13
Genre: Adventure, Action, Mystery
Starring: Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Jeff Daniels
Lupe's Movie Rating: B+
Lupe's Book to Movie Rating: D-

Summary:

"After the earth-shattering revelations of Insurgent, Tris must escape with Four beyond the wall that encircles Chicago, to finally discover the shocking truth of the world around them." (Summary from IMDB)

I have to say that this movie was really good as a film itself if there weren't a novel already out there. If you haven't read the books and just saw the movie then you would've really liked it! I watched the film with an open mind considering the fact that I didn't honestly liked Insurgent as much as I would've liked.

The action is there and the graphics are stunning although I did notice some flaws with the green screen at certain parts of the film where you could easily tell it was fake. The romance was there as well just in case you were wondering *Winks*.

The fact that I haven't read Allegiant in a while, it really took me quite some time to know what the hell was going on as I was watching the movie. I got it towards the end and they should've made the script better in order to interpret the movie better to capture the audience who haven't read the book or for those who have not read the book in a while. There were parts where I was really confused and there were part where parts where it was just really REALLY awkward.

Now let's move onto my thoughts about the book to movie adaption because as a film itself it was pretty good.

My god, this film is a disaster when compared to the book. The book is way better than the film and I honestly have no idea what the heck the last movie (Ascendant) will be about because this is not going in the direction from the book. It is really different and maybe that's why I was confused in general because I had no idea what was going on most of the time. I mean I did get the point but it wasn't clear to me until the climax of the movie.

Many fans of the series will be disappointed with this film with the amount of changes they did to it and you know us readers; We don't like it when you split the book into 2 films (which really isn't necessary in my opinion) and add things or take things away from the book.

Honestly, I am just wondering if Hollywood will stick to the TRUE ending of the book or completely change it up. The ending of this series is really iconic and really struck everyone. If they are going to change that then I am seriously not going to be happy about it. They should at least stick with the actual ending and just change everything else because they have already changed it so why not change it even more?

Now, I can't just end it without mentioning our home boy, Theo James A.K.A Tobias 'Four' Eaton. Can I say that he is amazing in this film? I mean I knew that he will be the only good thing about this film honestly. He looks great in red by the way but black will always suit him *winks*. Peter! Oh my gosh that boy made me laugh. They seriously gave him so many fantastic lines throughout the whole movie. He is still the same jerk as always but c'mon, once you see the movie, you will understand that the things he says in the movie are great! Shailene Woodley was great as well but her character in the middle of the movie really bothered me but really turned out great towards the end as always. But let's be honest, everyone likes Four better than Tris.

Anyway....

The movie itself was great but compared to the book, it was a mess. The plot should've been more clearer, the acting was fantastic and the graphics were decent. It's really one of those movies where you either like it or you hate it. Go watch it in theaters or wait until it's out on Blu-ray and judge for yourself! If you have seen it please tell me your thoughts below and please don't spoil it for anyone for those who haven't seen it.

Thank you so much!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Movie Review *Spoiler Free*

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Starring: Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher
Time: 2 Hours 16 Min. (135 min)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
Rating: PG-13
Released on: December 18, 2015
My Rating:

Guys, I can't even explain the madness of the crowd and the fandom. It was such a good way to unite us all! I went Thursday night to go see this spectacular movie and everyone was decked out with their costumes. Some were dressed as Jedi's, Darth Vader, Yoda, Han Solo and Princess Leia! I didn't dress up because I literally bought the tickets at the last minute. Don't do that please! Buy your ticket in advance!

Anyway...
Let's talk about the movie!

It takes place 30 years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire and now the first order (The dark side) wants to take over the galaxy but the resistance (The good peeps) don't want them to so they will find a way to stop them. I can't say what else is next because I'm afraid if I say anything more, I will ruin everything! So go see the movie to see what it's REALLY about!

Onto the review!

It was really intense throughout the entire movie. Although, there were a couple scenes that really brought back so many memories especially when I saw many of my all time favorite Star Wars characters like Chewbacca, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, R2D2, C-3PO and even Jakku. There are so many more!

What really brought me to tears is the beginning when they did the big intro with the fantastic Star Wars theme song! I couldn't be happier during that moment. It was all just a big moment for all of us Star Wars fans out there!

The transitions was really cool even though the movie is now in High Def and more advanced but they did the circular transitions that reminded me of the rest of the movies! It was such a good reminder that just because we are in another generation, this is still Star Wars and it will still use the same songs and transitions from the other movies! It will stay true to its roots!

I was on an emotional roller coaster. I was happy, sad, mad, and on the verge of tears. I felt bad for my mother who was sitting next to me because I was literally holding her arm, or pulling her arm as I was watching the movie. I even sang the entire theme song to my mother because I am such a dork. She still thinks I'm crazy but she did say she haven't seen me smile so much like that night.

I grew up with Star Wars and I will still watch it when I'm 70 years old. Even with the new characters thrown into this movie! I was not bothered by this because it's a new generation for Star Wars. The new characters like Rey, portrayed by Daisy Ridley, and Finn, portrayed by John Boyega, was a fresh new start to this new generation for Star Wars. I really liked them and really think that Daisy and John did a good job in this movie. I was not disappointed. I'm just glad they brought in the original actors to portray the iconic characters of Star Wars.

Overall, if you haven't seen any of the Star Wars movies, I suggest you watch at least one before you see this one or just know who are the original characters and how they're all related in order for you to understand the movie. Trust me, this movie was worth the hype. Now go watch this movie and let's break some more box office records!

Here is the trailer if you haven't seen it or you're still thinking about whether to go see it or not! *pst* You should totally go see it!

Thank you so much for reading! Until next time!

I'm Back! + Final Divergent Movie Title Change?

Hello there my good fellow friends! It's been a long time since I've been on here and I'm so sorry for that! Personal things just kept popping up throughout these past few months and I slowly slept away from posting stuff on the blog.

So what have I been doing?

I have been busy spending quite a lot of family time and had to do a lot of hair services on clients! Also, I am now part of my friend's blog, Bookwryming Thoughts. I post reviews and I am doing a small blog segment called "Fangirl Friday" in which I will literally "fangirl" about everything book related. It's pretty exciting!

No onto what the majority of you are here for.
*C'mon Lupe, enough with the rambling.*

Here are my thoughts and opinions about the Final Divergent Movie title changes that has been released earlier today!

So we all know that the last book of the trilogy will be split into 2 movies (I still don't get why they decided to do that) and part 1 will be released on March 2016 and that part 2 will be released on March 2017.
Now, earlier today MTV released that the final two movies will NOT be named Part 1 and Part 2.

Part 1. I mean Allegiant.

"Break The Boundaries Of Your World."

They should just finish this movie trilogy once and for all with just THREE movies but no. These people HAVE to split the book up to make more money. Many of us want to see the book come TO LIFE in a beautiful short, well done matter. We don't want to waste both time and money on watching very long, boring scenes (Ahem, Mockingjay part 1 anyone?).

Part 2! I mean Ascendant.

"The End Is Never What You Expect."
Please tell me the slogan of this movie is not a nice way of saying "Sorry guys, we might change the ending."

I think this is the book where it truly defines whether or not you really love or hate the series in general. Roth really ended the series in a way we were not expecting and to be honest, it made me love the series that much more because of her originality and how she had the guts to do what she did ( I will not spoil this to anyone who have not read it. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GO READ IT!).

Anyway, I honestly do not know whether to be infuriated, sad, excited or concerned (not in that order exactly) but I think it's just a mixture of all those emotions because I still have not fully grasp onto the idea that these people could possible destroy the story. They better interpret the story the way it is and not sugar coat it because this book is so much more than that. In fact, all books are so much more than that. Unless they get author permission, opinions or approval. I mean it's the author's story.

Sorry, I just don't want these people to destroy the book like they have done to every other book out there. There are many people out there who haven't read the book and that watch the movies so I at LEAST expect the movies to be very similar to the book, so it will encourage people to go read the book and see for themselves that it did really happen.

Well thank you for reading all of my rambling about this new movie news. I know it's very exciting and we can only wait until the trailer comes out, hopefully, in the next few weeks or months. Then judgement day will be when the movie is released.

So we will all be waiting for that day quietly (Nope) and hope for the best!
Thank you for reading!

Insurgent 'Movie' Review Discussion *Spoiler Free*

Insurgent

Released March 20, 2015

Genre: Adventure, Sci-Fi, Thriller

Rated: PG-13

1 Hour 59 Minutes

Starring: Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Theo James, Kate Winslet

Movie Rating:
Book to Movie Rating:

.5

I am going to start doing this thing where I will give 2 different ratings. One will rate the movie in general as if it was not based off a book and the other rating will be about how well they adapted the book into a movie.

Let's get started!

The movie is EXCELLENT! The graphics made it so much more futuristic and they really stepped it up a notch from it's precedent movie. Of course, it did NOT take half an hour to get the show on the road. The action and suspense started IMMEDIATELY. I really liked that they quickly picked up directly from the last movie and not spend a whole lot of time with a voice over explaining what the heck happened. Which is also strongly recommended to watch the first movie if you haven't already *Hint hint*

There were some parts that bugged me but there were very minor things. For example like the camera moving too fast at certain points (especially the beginning) and there were some scenes that really screwed me up because I didn't know if it was a dream or if it's just a hallucination which weren't very clear to me much. But then again, this all happened in the first half of the movie and it didn't bother me much.

Lets go on to the things I loved!
Shall we?
WE SHALL!

The action
It was fantastic and VERY well done! Now I understand why Theo James' butt is insured. *Insert Grin*
I am a huge sucker for action movies because I love seeing fighting scenes and it will never fail to entertain me. Theo james got more emotional playing the character of Tobias (Four) Eaton since we find out more about him (which isn't much really). Theo in fighting scenes were great but Shailene was very impressive as well!

This movie is a lot more emotional considering that it is more focused on Tris's emotions and feelings towards herself. More specifically, she isn't able to forgive herself and can't have anyone get too close to her or else they will get killed because of her. Not only that but us viewers get really angry towards characters such as Jeanine (duh), Eric (DUH), Peter, and Caleb. That's just to name a few.

Besides how awesome and action packed this movie is, it was also very funny. Peter and Caleb really made me laugh despite how bad and tough the circumstances they were in!  These two characters also made us angry considering their decisions that they made. Which caused me to constantly rub my temples. *eye roll*

Let's go onto the dreadful part of the movie review which will explain my opinion on how well they did the book to movie adaption.
WARNING: I MAY SPOIL THE MOVIE
not really but keep reading at your own risk

IN ALL MY HONEST OPINION, the movie was REALLY DIFFERENT from the book. I was hoping to see more scenes with Tobias and Marcus which really showed us how angry he is and his vulnerability. Marcus wasn't very involved here as much as he sort of was in the book. Many scenes were changed and altered when comparing the book to the film. At least I was not surprised throughout the movie of what will be happening. They did include major stuff on the film but like I said, they altered it very much. It wasn't necessarily ALL BAD.

Let's end this long discussion!

OVERALL, this movie is so good! It is highly recommended to see the first film to see it! It will be even better to read the trilogy before seeing it on screen to just see this world unravel before your very eyes. Of course my book to movie adaption rating is low but that shouldn't stop you from watching it. The movie itself is great but you know what us book nerds say.
THE BOOK IS ALWAYS BETTER!

UNTIL THEN
GOODBYE!

So many Books, So little time *Advice for Readers*

There are so many books that everyone wants to read!
Every person has a list of books they would love to read and accomplish every year.
The list can be long or short, but for us book bloggers, the list is quite longer than the average person.
Am I right?
Or am I right?

My list is short considering at how much I suck at keeping up with my independent reading and having to juggle family/friend time and homework time.

There are always times where there will be events or situations that will keep you from reading and trying to conquer that "to-read" list. It's hard and I don't blame you for having a hard time.

I will give you some of my "helpful" tips for those of you who have a large reading list and have a hard time accomplishing them year after year.

1. Establish a specific time each day to just sit down and read
    - Make a time in your day ( early in the morning or in the afternoon) and read without distractions for a certain amount of time (a half hour, an hour etc.)
    - This will help you get through a book much quicker than usual and you wouldn't have to read one book every 3 months for lack of time.
    - This will quickly become part of a routine or part of your routine. It will become a very good habit that later on, it will be hard to change it.
    - You will also look forward to having that short date with your book everyday. It will motivate you to become an avid reader once again!

2. Ditch that phone
    - I know your reaction already. WHAT?!
    - This is harder than you think people. I struggle with this. I grew up with a phone in my hand and I always have it with me no matter what. I have a very good reputation of responding to texts very quickly. Your phone is a distraction. It is a huge reason why teens today do not read. Oh teens love to read drama on their facebook timeline and look up lyrics of their favorite songs but can't they just pick up a book and read? I swear, if teens these days read more, we wouldn't be having much drama!
   - So whenever you read, hide the phone and read the book! I have to admit that my phone is ruining my reading life.

3. Find a comfortable place in your home, library, outdoors etc.
    - The place and environment you are in can really affect the way you read. Find a spot on the couch, read on your bed in your room, find a spot on your backyard, or go to your local library and claim a spot. Just find a place that you are comfortable reading.
    - My favorite place to read is on my bed in my bedroom. It's very quiet, hence that I am an only child, and no one bothers me. Find your personal reading sanctuary!

4. Find a reading buddy!
   - I know what you are thinking. No, you will not get distracted. I will make sure of that!
Tell someone to join you on your reading time and get together and just read in the same place together! You can read the same book and dedicate that time to read a certain amount of chapters and pages and discuss afterwards what you guys have read or just read different books. Do whatever works for you and I can guarantee, reading will be more enjoyable when you have someone along with you on this reading journey!
   - This is tip is more directed to those people who don't like to do things alone.

5. If you are not in the mood to read, then don't read.
  - DO NOT FEEL FORCED TO READ EVERYDAY ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE NOT FEELING GOOD!
  - Laziness is not a reason that should stop you from reading but a big headache, a huge migraine, a big exam the next day, you are too sick to even stay up etc. Trust me, there are days where you sadly have to give up your reading time and finish other things. But look on the bright side, you will still look forward to your next reading time when you are feeling better and you might possibly squeeze a couple of minutes of your day to read a couple of pages. But hey! It is better than nothing!

I hope you guys can get something out of this. I certainly need this reminder in my life (Especially that phone tip). I will make another post in the near future if I make new ideas or get new ideas to share with you guys!

Thanks for reading!

The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death Movie Review

The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death

Released January 3, 2015

Genre: Drama, Horror, Thriller

Rated: PG-13

98 Minutes

Starring: Helen McCrory, Jeremy Irvine, and Phoebe Fox

Rating:

The only reason that I saw this movie the day after the release day was because of the story. The story is similar and close to the story I grew up hearing. I am Hispanic and the legend behind this story is called "La Llorona" or "The Weeping woman".
The story is that she drowned her children and regrets it. At night, you would hear her walking around weeping and yelling "OH MY CHILDREN!" To be honest, it would be hell of a lot creepier and better if they would have added this to the movie not just some random screaming. If you guys are interested in knowing the legend just watch "La leyenda de la Llorona" on Netflix or just search google with "La Llorona".
So the point in here is that the Woman just wants to find her children hence why children is involved in this story.
Quick Summary from IMDB

40 years after the first haunting at Eel Marsh House, a group of children evacuated from WWII London arrive, awakening the house's darkest inhabitant.

The main character, Eve, portrayed by Phoebe Fox, is such a sweetheart and just grew very protective of the new orphan boy, Edward, who recently lost his parents during the War. This scene really made me tear up a bit. Don't judge me! I always tear up no matter what. Edward didn't talk at all. He did by writing things down on paper to communicate but that was it. Eve really felt bad and just always lets him know that she is here for him.

Eve didn't like the house, the moment they arrived. The other lady in charge, Jean, didn't mind (I didn't like her by the way). They arrived earlier than the others and so they should just wait until the others arrived. It was creepy and dark. They had to use candles because the lights barely worked.

What made me mad and frustrated is how Eve always searched around the house by herself knowing that that place is haunted in some way. It only angered the woman more. Edward missed his mother very deeply and always carries around a drawing he made. It's the only thing he has to remember his mother.

The woman made Edward feel loved and protected and kills the children who threatens him or treats him badly. As the children's deaths become more frequent, Eve is more convinced of finding out who is in that house and finds information with the help of a fellow soldier.

As they find out more about who the Woman is, the more angry she becomes. As well as Edward's safety.
The thing is...
No one believes Eve, only the soldier.

This story hits close to mothers who lost a child in their lives.
Someone has to sacrifice them self to save the others.

The reason I gave this 3 crowns is because I felt like this was more of a comedy. I was in the theater surrounded by teenagers who get scared over everything including stepping onto their own popcorn bag. (I AM NOT JOKING) I have never laughed so much in a theater before. Another thing is that I felt that the movie was missing more gore and many more things to make it a better, creepier and interesting film.

I do recommend this to everyone who just wants to watch a good suspense movie because I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Overall, this film is alright for a good sleepover or just a casual night by yourself. HA! I was just joking about that but hey,
I DARE YOU.

Thanks for reading!
